Through the years, NAACP has been one of the most influential black organizations to exist. Many people do not really know the meaning of the NAACP. NAACP is the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. It means we have the power to advance, progress or move up. Now in today’s world, we really need the NAACP because they have been leaders for years in developing our young Americans wonderful dreams for tomorrow. We have come across many black organizations and the NAACP has been one organization that has stayed focused and has not relinquished what they believe in. Now as Black Americans, we are targeted because we are using the path that our former generations has laid our for us, and we are making wonderful careers and lives.
My friends and I have fought for what we believe in. Without the NAACP and other black organizations, we wouldn’t have the independence or opportunity to do many things that we are allowed to do today. The good thing that we now discuss is that the NAACP is recognized as a whole and a not individual. Many of us now, try to succeed alone but we could do a whole lot more as a whole. It seems as if the new generation is divided. We really need the NAACP because it gives us the opportunity to show we have power and are determined not to give up.
I don’t think we would have a lot of things we have now or be able to go places we can go to now if it wasn’t for the NAACP. Today, we can only remember what happened in the past and I am glad to say the past is still alive. Without the NAACP, we wouldn’t have a unity or a good family foundation. The organization doesn’t only affect black people but other races to display what we went through and how far we have come. The NAACP is a foundation that not only inspires themselves but one that other organizations look up to. I believe without the NAACP, there would be more black on black crime. We wouldn’t have people to look up to.
NAACP has acknowledged their ancestors by keeping our name in the light. We’re not saying we just want the limelight, we are acknowledging what we have done and getting credit for what we have done.
